Agencies usually do a few different types of planning, the most common are:

• Strategic Planning
• Business Planning
• Financial Planning
• Fund Raising Planning
• Outcome Evaluation and Planning

Once an organization creates a Strategic Plan, then all of the other plans can be “nested” in or underneath the Strategic Plan. The Business Plan provides for operational, tactical direction. And, elements like the Finance Plan, Fund Raising Plan and Technology Plan are often chapters in the Business Plan.
